“Imitations” is the eighth solo album from legendary alternative rock musician Mark Lanegan. It’s a collection of cover songs consisting of music Lanegan listened to as a child through to contemporary times, featuring covers of artist such as Frank Sinatra, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Nancy Sinatra, Andy Williams, Bobby Darin, The Twilight Singers and more. With a style that is unmistakably his own, Mark Lanegan's inter­pretations of these classic tracks are unique and memorable.

It is his first solo record since last year's ‘Blues Funeral’ and his second release this year following the collaborative album with Duke Garwood, ‘Black Pudding’. One of the most prolific men in music at the moment, Lanegan has released music with Queens Of The Stone Age, Moby, Duke Garwood, Christine Owman, Martina Topley-Bird in the past year alone. Mark Lanegan has a solid fanbase thanks to his previous work as frontman for Screaming Trees and as co-vocalist of Queens Of The Stone Age.

Mark says of “Imitations”: “When I was a kid in the late sixties and early seventies, my parents and their friends would play the records of Andy Williams, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Perry Como, music with string arrangements and men singing songs that sounded sad whether they were or not. At home my folks were also listening to country music — Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, George Jones and Vern Gosdin were some of our favourites. For a long time I’ve wanted to make a record that gave me the same feeling those old records did, using some of the same tunes I loved as a kid and some that I’ve loved as I have gotten older. This record is it. Imitations.”
