"A great field guide"
3 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This is the book to take with you tramping & camping, or even on one of the many great wilderness walks this country has to offer. Highly informative, concise & easily read. Small enough to fit in a jacket pocket, its a take anywhere book.

The only negative I have to say is, there arent enough colour photos. Most of the plants covered only have 6cm x 4cm black & white sketches, so if you dont know what youre looking at it could be dangerous to eat. Overall I give it 3 stars because of the lack of identifying photos.

"A necessity for all trampers and hunters in New Zealand."

First of all I would like to thank Mightyape for such hasty shipping. I recieved my purchase two days after ordering.

Whether you are looking for an identification guide, survival help or just a bit of knowledge about endemic flora, i highly reccomend A Field Guide to the Native Edible Plants of New Zealand.

Throughout the guide edible species are described for identification aswell as where the plants can be found, what part is to be eatten and various cooking methods.

If you are an avid hunter or tramper why not carry along this guide for a bit of fun, and safety under survival circumstances.

A useful guide with how to use the native plants. Could use better illustrations to help to identify species.

Another excellent book from Andrew Crowe, extremely informative and a must have for those that spend a lot of time in the bush or have a general botanical interest in native flora

Like the colored plates in the middle of the book. Came with a nice laminated cover, despite being a paperback. Quite a thorough book! Would recommend

"Informative but not very detailed"

Informative but not very detailed as they are sketches and have to keep referring to the actual pictures in the middle of the book

"An informative gem of a book."

"An essential book for every kiwi"

Very informative and useful. It has drawn images on each page but further into the book has actual photo's of each of the edible plants. I would have preferred the photos put on the page they belong to so I don't have to search back and forth. Still a must-have book for any survival enthusiast or nutrition seeker.

"Handy little book"

Very clear and informative book… a must have for any tramper or bushperson. Tells you what to look for and what to prepare and what to eat. Book comes in a plastic cover for protection from the elements-bar fire of course.
