Eye Protection LED Dimmable Desk Lamp reviews

I use this light for painting miniatures. Very detailed work. My house is poorly lit, and I have limited space at my desk. Using this I now have ample light in either cold or warm hues to work at night. The ten brightness settings give good variation for what I need. And the armature is very good for the price point. I am really happy with it. A good choice for model painters on a budget.

Love it. My eyes are bad I use 32 inch screens for work and home. The light from the screens prevents me reading my keyboard. I do have a different lamp but it obstructs my screen thus one I can set the lamp below or above the view of the screen and it allows me to see my keyboard perfectly several light colour intensities so I can set it to suit my eyes at the time GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY

No matter what you do at your desk you will not find a better and less obtrusive desk lam. If you paint models this is a must have and if you're just working at your computer the lamps soft light protects your eyes and can help reduce the glare from the screen. Best work lamp ever!

Brightness isn't particularly great, quality is a little flimsy, and worst of all it's a USB only lamp that doesn't include a 230VAC wall adaptor – something you would expect!

At first I loved this lamp but then it just stopped working. I discovered that the usb plug is dodgy and over heats. It got so hot it destroyed the female part of the plug. I am now scared to use it in case it catches fire.

Worked for a few months then wouldn't light up anymore. Disappointing.

Cheap quality. The arm, mounting bracket and light are all decent, but the shoddy wiring/internals were evident quickly with flickering only a few weeks after opening. Died completely a couple months later.

Great product true value for money , the variable light temperatures make screen viewing so much easier on your eyes, one tip is small amount of sewing machine oil or dry lube in the balance arm joints when setting up makes for smoother movement .

It’s quite bright and good for soldering electronics. Just note it is a USB device, I just plug it into a spare phone charger. All in all I’m very pleased with it

The light is good and it attaches to the desk easily enough. The issue is the USB – it overheats and gets insanely hot, at least mine does. I've had this product for a few months now and while I really enjoyed it, it's getting to the point I might have to stop using it because it's getting so hot it feels like a fire hazard.

Wow! I've never ever bought a lamp that has 3 different type of lights and 5 Dimmable setting. One of the best affordable Lamp, flexible and clamp on I have ever bought. One thing I didn't notice was, it's USB powered so not your normal plug into the adaptor method. That's ok I use it to draw near my PC anyways. 5 GOLD STAR

Just randomly stopped working after a month use absolutely rubbish.

First of all I was impressed with fast delivery. I ordered this for my work desk. The desk lamp is OK for the price and easy to use. But I wish the LED light was brighter. Also it includes only usb cable.

I bought two for my miniature painting hobby. They work great for the price, compact and bright enough.

Cord is bit short, seems to get really hot, but has a nice adjustable brightness

Light is good but the arm isn’t great, but the main thing is it doesn’t come with a plug. I asked Mighty Ape where the plug is and they fobbed me off with “it doesn’t come with one”. Won’t bother with Mighty Ape again.

Happy with this product, very good if you want something that doesn't take up any space on a desk. The light settings are handy, especially having the three settings and also the ability to adjust the brightness.

This LED Dimmable Desk Lamp does do what I want, but firstly it has to be borne in mind that 12 watts exceeds the USB standard and plugging it into a computer USB port will very likely cause serious damage to your computer's mot­herboard. I have my lamp plugged into a mains powerboard that has a USB socket, but even then if the lamp is set to full brightness the switch and USB plug gets quite warm. For this reason I keep my lamp set to a moderately dim setting which suits me fine since I have eyesight problems and don't get on well with bright lights.

I bought one of these on sale for a great price, and it worked well. It did get dimmer over time, but to be fair I used it for thousands of hours. Eventually I broke the lamp by accident (I twisted the lamp too far and the wires broke), but I've successfully repurposed the stand for a microphone.

Great light for my craft room. Fits on my desk great and with adjustable arms it's perfect. The different light settings and dimmer means I can craft away at any time now day or night. With my mighty Ape membership it was free delivery as well! Thanks Mighty Ape!

I'm quite happy with this lamp, works well, brightness can be change and different lights mode, really good if you are a craftsmen. The light can be fixed into any passion

USB-powered Large clamp for almost any size of desk Adjustability in the stem Extends far enough to reach across long desks Multiple brightness levels and multiple colour modes There is really nothing more you could ask for out of a sub-50 dollar desk lamp.

Got two of these and they were amazing! Absolutely perfect, but exactly one year after purchase both started flickering and turning off randomly. Eventually they no longer powered on at all. Otherwise, recommended

First one stopped working just after a month, got a second one sent for free (thanks mighty ape) but that one stopped working also just after 4 to 5 months of use, I suspect it has a heating issue as mine broke after entering summer season. Regardless do not buy its cheap for a reason.

My first one failed like other reviewes here, started flickering so switched to higher output adapter (none included) which gives you another week or 2. 2nd one once again brilliant till the above issues happened again, after even less use this time. Not even worth the hassle of returns. Just don't buy.

The light started flashing after about 6 months of average use. After another 2 weeks, it finally gave in. I'm currently requesting for a return/exchange of the product. Will see how MightyApe lives up to its service.

As far as the lamp is concerned, it ticks all the boxes! Good brightness, dimmable, different lighting tones, however mine failed after only six months. Looking at the reviews it's a common problem. Mightyape were good at honoring the refund though, which was great.

This is my 2nd lamp as the 1st stopped working after a week, the 2nd lasted maybe 3–4 months, now it only turns on for a split second

Great price and worked well while it worked. Now the switch is broken. The adjustments lose their tightness after a while too if you need to move it and adjust it often.

I bought this lamp back in March as it had plenty of good reviews and was far cheaper than a lot of the other options. It's worked wonderfully for the 4 months I've owned it until now, where it has out of nowhere started to behave exactly like some other reviews have noted: it turns on, but only a single brightness, none of the buttons work, and then it'll just sort of sputter out and can't be switched on again. Very disappointed as this was a really good lamp while it lasted – which unfortunately wasn't very long.

I really liked this lamp when it came. The adjustable angles, the clamp so it doesn't take up desk space, the lighting options to change tone and brightness. But the lamp gets HOT so I've only kept to the 3 lowest brightness. Then it stopped working one day just around the 12-month mark. The power button light comes on when it's plugged in but the buttons are non responsive. If it manages to turn on, it's on max brightness and I'm unable to dim it, which then makes me worried it'll get too hot and become a fire hazard. Looking at the other reviews, the lamp doesn't seem to last more than a year. But it was a nice lamp when it worked.

I bought this lamp 11 months ago and it worked fine for the last 9 months. Then it began to need to be reset with the usb power before it would turn on. Now at 11 months, that doesn't work anymore and it no longer works. I'm a bit disappointed to be honest. Seems like it's really hard to find things that last anymore.

This lamp is a replacement for one I had just returned nearly immediately due to it ‘not charging’ but it appears now reading ALL of previous reviews & reading between the lines, as nobody actually says it.

That this lamp MUST be plugged in for use.

I guess it’s my fault, when I saw it was USB powered I thought it just had to be charged before use.

So obviously when I ‘charged’ this, it still turns off the second you pull the plug as it needs a permanent ongoing power source to function.

I was going to give the initial one of these to the SPCA charity shop but now reading the previous comments regarding the light overheating, I worry this could be a hazard & as a lot of older & people with less money shop there I would never forgive myself if this was to cause a fire. This also HAS TO BE sorted out, for very obvious reasons.

Love this for working late on crafty things. Has a modern design look to it so goes well with the home office aesthetic, all while being super useful!

Happy with this light, use it for painting and intend to use for making fine jewellery too. Would highly recommend.

Very easy to set up and use. Works just as described.

The adjustable stand is excellent and the led strip is great for detailed work. The USB connection gets very hot so may need more than 5v for the light.

This is well worth it and I wish I had it sooner.

For the price, it is great. Feels a little bit flimsy. led light has 3 colour temperatures settings plus you can dim the output too. Not super bright but easy on the eyes. USB powered, power adapter not included. Need at least a 10w adapter. Has a inline switch with dim and colour temperature buttons

Works well, does what I wanted it for. Missed that it is usb charged. Hooked up a spare extension cord and usb attachment and hey presto everything is working fine. Great piece of equipment.

Very neat, except the part where it's extremely cheap in build quality, and doesn't actually work. (It seems to need more power than any USB port (including a phone adapter and a MightyApe wall-to-USB power supply) can actually provide.

Delivered quickly. Easy set up (comes as two parts). Light weight. Brightness levels decent.

Bought for the home office. Ideal for doing zoom meetings
