Smart Ape: Smart WiFi Powerboard with USB Chargers reviews

Bit tricky to setup even following instructions but when it comes to pairing it, choose to manually add the socket under Ble+Wifi power strip or Other, doesnt matter which one, then it should show your device to add and your underway.

Added fine to Home Assistant (its a Tuya device), works similar to the 3 port+usb, but a warning it does not provide power monitoring like the 3 port does.

How the main led works.

I brought this to provide a voice alert when devices such as the dish washer and microwave had finished and to ensure devices were automatically powered off when idle. The turning on/off works, but with no energy monitoring you cant determine if a device has finished or is idle.

Makes a loud humming noise that does not sound safe. Ended up having to remove it from the AV room. Some standard plugs needed force to plug in and it unable to connect to wifi. Others have had a better experience than me.

Broke within 10 weeks . Makes a god awful electrical humming sound. Avoid at all costs.

Works very well. Can control from app on phone or tablet or via google assistant. No problem setting up… But you must ensure the device your using the app on is connected to the 2.4Ghz network…as the power board only supports this… Can reconnect to 5Ghz once setup is complete and still control.

Died after 18 months, started making continuous electrical fizzing noise.

This is an amazing product.
Have had one just under 2 years and it has started buzzing, Unfortunately outside of 1 year warranty.

I should of read the description better, this power board does not have energy monitoring. Other not so good points: the sockets are very close together which is not good for wide plugs and the plug & socket interface is loose, the plugs don't seem to press in very securely

If you're willing to replace this yearly or if you're only going to use it for a few months as a one-off, go for it. Otherwise, DON'T BOTHER and get something else. When it works, it works great and it was easy to set up but that was it. I used this for about 4 months, then I stopped using it for another 8 (it remain unplugged for that period). When I plugged it again, it begun making a really awfully loud chirping, electrical noise and it begun overheating. Nothing had changed, except the fact that the appliance was disconnected for several months.

The noise is constant and it can be really loud. Avoid unless you want to waste your money. There are better (long-lasting) products out there. I have had simple power boards purchased for much cheaper about a decade ago and they are still working.

Worked great and now 10 months after purchase it has started making a hissing sound

I got this with the intention of switching a couple of standalone smart ape plugs to a more compact solution. It worked well, but now it makes a loud hissing noise when in use, and doesn't sound very safe at all. Unfortunately will be having to throw this out.

It started making hissing sound after a few months of usage. Shame it was working perfectly well in the beginning. Don’t waste money on this. Spend a little more for something that can last much longer.

Great for teens although they may drive you nuts turning devices on remotely like my son does lol.

Works well, it just wish there was better explanation of the different timing settings. Struggling to work out how I can set it to be on for 20 minutes, off for 10 on a 16 hour cycle

Great bit of kit, a good solution for devices that need a power cycle occasionally but are hard to get to, all 4 outlets can be renamed a to what you have plugged in and alexa can turn them off and on. Only slight downside is the usb ports can be switched on and off but it's all 4 on or off, you can't individually control them

Was a little bit messy to set up but got there eventually. Found out that the usb ports cannot be turned on or off or named individually as I really needed this feature.

I’ve got 5 Smart Ape power boards around the house, so convenient and easy to use with Google Home. Quick and easy to set up, and love that I can set timers, reoccurring on/off at set times, and all remotely!

Unfortunately the smart integration is very hit and miss. We have one plug named as “Lamp” and turning it on and off is 50/50 now. Alexa either says “can't find device” or just says “okay” and does nothing. Never had a single issue with the standalone plugs.

Despite that, this is a good sized, well spaced power brick and the USB ports are a great addition if using under your desk.

Not sure if it was my router, or the devices but could not make them connect to the network. MightyApe offered a full refund or replacement, very generous I thought, so i'm hoping another device will be more lucky. Thank you MA for the amazing service/kindness.
