Smart Ape: WiFi Plug With Power Meter reviews

Good plug connects with Google home and took me about 5min to set up, and instead of going out buying smart appliances this is way cheaper!

Have bought a couple of these and they are easy to use and set up. They help me understand where I am using power and from there I can make informed decisions about how and when I use my devices. I will defiantly be purchasing more.

Once the app was downloaded to my phone the wifi plug was found and worked very easy. Works with google home , took maybe 10 minutes all to get it all running would recommend good product.

I highly recommend this as of the price and the quality, Its one of the coolest things to have In an Office, Room, Living Area, it works anywhere and with power. Also working with Alexa And Google Home its a cheap piece of technology I highly recommend.

The SMART plug is really easy to use with the App, but its hard to find any manual to describe how the Statistics for the power utilisation works. My power meter “feels” like its not recording usage accurately. Would like to know more about this, but cannot find a manual anywhere.

Delivery from Mighty Ape was astoundingly fast (and courier charges were reasonable) The product was good. Timer and scheduler, power consumption, and can include notifications of actions (so you can see what is happening). The default app provides the functionality needed – but the interface to the power monitoring is pretty rubbish (unless you subscribe to another service) Great news for me was that it integrated into HomeAssistant pretty simply, so I can do all the monitoring and control that I want from HA (although I did have to create an additional Tuya Cloud account to do that – thankfully this device didn't have any of the regional profile limitations that some of these apps have) The printed instructions were a joke – I am pretty sure that they are 3 point font, so for an old man, it was virtually impossible to read.

So, as far as I am concerned, this is a great little plug for a great price with great delivery. Recommended.

Works well enough, kinda expected it to last a bit longer than two years, especially since it was on the same device (a light) the entire time. So just something to be mindful of if comparing products.

Have heaps of these around the house and love them.

They are alexa/google home enabled which is great, but they also allow for turning items on and off remote, and setting them to schedules. For example, I have some lights on my balcony which are plugged in inside, and are set to turn on 30 minutes before sunset and then again at midnight. I also have the fan in my room plugged in, so I can turn it on and off without getting out of bed. Awesome stuff :)

If they were reliable I'd have given them five stars as the app is user friendly and easy to use and they couldn't be much simpler to set up. Unfortunately pretty early on one of them failed by continually flicking off and on, causing the unit to heat up. Mighty Ape replaced that one, but now the other is failing in under a year too.

Ended up hooking this up to the pool filter and setting the timer. Love the added advantage of having power consumption in there too so if you are a geek like me you can measure any appliance to help keep your power bills down. Better than I expected.

I set this up in less than a minute on my phone and another minute to set up with my google assistant. Very simple app to use and schedule might plugs on and off as required. Great purchase.

Works with my cheap heater from warehouse. I just set time to turn on and off. Ill get more for my lights.
