"Awesome movie. Cheap release."
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

The movie itself is fantastic and worth owning. Joss Whedon & Drew Goddard, 'nuff said. Do not watch the trailer! The less you know about the plot, the better the surprises.

This release however, I was very disappointed. There are only three features – Making Of (29 mins), Make-Up (12 mins), Visual Effects (12 mins) – less than half what the rest of the world gets. Meanwhile the missing features –

  • Audio Commentary with Joss & Drew (!)
  • The Secret Stash (13 min)
  • Wonder-Con Q&A with Joss & Drew (28 min)
  • Bonus View Mode Picture-In-Picture (95 mins)

So, WTF- Just like “The Avengers” region B release (no commentary and missing features), we once again get shafted by the movie publishers for no acceptable reason. Hard to not feel cheated if you are a Joss fan.

"Respect For The Audience"
5 stars"

This has become one of my favourite modern films. Often mistaken as a straight attempt at a horror film (leading to some low scores from hiny-hurt fanboys), TCINW is a witty, intelligent and unabashedly referential flick with Joss Whedon's grubby fingerprints all over it that doesn't talk down to the audience. I'm not going to give out spoilers, but it starts off like a lot of clichéd horror flicks with a bunch of mismatched (and oddly representative) young folk driving off to holiday in an isolated cabin (it was filmed here in NZ!), and then the wild ride begins …

Good movie. Good twist at the end.
