Don't know why this is called a base coating brush, it's some where between a detail and standard brush in size. It seems a like a quality brush but it it would take all day to base coat a miniature with it.

My main gripe with this brush is the finish. The quality of the paint/polish on the handle is quite poor and it feels like a cheap brush to hold (it is $6). Also the crimping of the ferrule to the handle has caused this paint job to splinter and crack around the top, so some pretty poor craftsmanship there that further contributes to it feeling cheap. That being said the brush itself seems adequate for the job, I've only had it a little while but it is definitely adequate for basecoating, the real question is how long does it last.
I find this brush better to paint small details than the smaller army painter brushes.
Army Painter BR7003–01. A perfect brush for painting the bulk of infantry. The brush end has the right thickness for holding paint without spilling it all at first stroke.
HOBBY series (Red):
These brushes are made form the finest quality Toray synthetic hair and offers a
great introduction to the painting hobby.
