Reviews
“So what if philosophical depths are out of the film's reach, there's a seed of ambition in this one that suggests the transfer of a video game to the screen doesn't always have to be a suicide mission. And that's something.” – Rolling Stone
“The relentless gloom can feel oppressive, but there's plenty of ambition here, especially in the layered storytelling and woozy sense of time and place, with plenty of soaring aerial shots that nod quietly to the all-seeing eye of a computer game.” – Time Out
“Despite the tortured writing, Kurzel shoots the heck out of the film, especially the flashbacks, when Aguilar and his assassin companion Maria parkour around ancient Andalusia, kicking some serious Templar butt.” – Tribune News Service
