Peter Lester is an 'old school' hunter. Privileged to hunt during the halcyon days in New Zealand, he describes his adventures in the bush hunting deer and pigs, and on the water, fishing for the elusive 'giant' trout. He tells of a time when men didn't speak in sentences more than 10 or so words long, when friendships were formed and kept strong through thick and thin. This book is a collection of Peter's adventures, accompanied by myriad images, showing a land that has since changed, a hunting fraternity that has since grown old, but a way of life that still exists and holds on to those aspects of the culture that provide the foundations for its longevity: mateship and a love of the land and, to a lesser extent, the need to bring home the bacon.
