The EP starts of with the delightfully haunting “Plane Crash”, with it's echoing sound and it's soft ghost like vocals, vocals which are a Liam Finn trademark. Then it is the track “Long Way To Go” which, with it's upbeat tempo and backup vocals from Eliza Jane is easily the best song on the EP. The following tracks are where this EP loses it's star. “Won't Change My Mind” seems to drag on and lose freshness, it's six minute length too long for me. “Honest Face” sounds like a Crowded House B-Side and although the lyrics are brilliant, the song feels like a retread of his last album “I'll Be Lightning” and lacks any evolution. The final song “On Your Side” is sung mostly by Eliza Jane. This is a welcome change and is listenable track, it just doesn't stand out. and that seems to be the main theme of the album. It doesn't stand out.
Overall, this EP is very very easy to listen to. IT just lacks any boastfulness, any attempt to stand out. For Liam Finn fans this will be a welcome addition to their collection. For Liam Finn new-comers, I recommend his first release “I'll Be Lightning”.
