It was in 1998 that The Feelers entered the New Zealand charts with their debut album ‘Supersystem’. A string of successful singles, including “Venus”, “Supersystem”, “Space Cadet”, “Pressure Man”, “World Away”, and “As Good As It Gets”, saw their album grow to over four times platinum, and assured them a place as one of the most successful bands in New Zealand history.
This is their follow-up album, and it is an elemental departure from their previous work. Starting, catchy and beautiful, it is a blend of gorgeous sonics, and superb production.
The album also provides a magnitude of mod, ranging from the infectious pop namesake “Communicate”, through to the hauntingly beautiful simplicity of songs such as “The Web” and “Fishing for Lisa”. It is a significant platform to exhibit the outstanding multi-talents of songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist James Reid, the instinctive, wonderfully sublime bass playing of Matt Thomas, and the incredible deft range of drummer Hamish Gee.
Danton Supple (Seal, Morrissey, Bush, The Cure, Us, and Suede) recorded the album in London's ‘The Church’ studio, with the help of Gil Norton (The Foo Fighters, and The Pixies). Chris Sheldon (Radiohead, and The Foo Fighters) did the mix-down, and Bob Ludwig (Bob Marley, Nirvana, Radiohead, and Pearl Jam), one of the world's top mastering engineers, mastered the album.
