Before opening this book one could safely say IÂ wasn't counted amongst fans of Monty Betham, but after struggling to put the book down for 176Â pages, my attitude has been well and truly adjusted.
I picked this book up on the promise that it would tell some never-before-told tales and expose the other side of stories we have only ever been selectively drip fed by the media, it certainly didn't disappoint. And like the athlete himself when he was in the boxing ring, this book doesn't pull any punches. We see a side of Monty that some never knew existed and others had forgotten about.
I found John Matheson's writing style to be entertaining, captivating and very easy to read. This is a must-have for rugby leagues fans, but it absolutely-can't-be-missed by anyone who has said a bad word about Monty Betham.
