"Wow i got duped"
2 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Wow i got duped. Couldnt wait for this game to come out as im a big fan of open world rpgs but after about 10 hours of game play i am totally bored of how repetitive this game is, there is only so much shooting a laser at rocks and trees a guy can take. It does not matter how big this game is and the endless galaxy's or planets just changing the colour of a planet and the temperature ain't that different. And wheres the storyline- So in short paid ten dollars an hour for nice scenery and space flight. Not for me, back to the witcher 3 and metal gear solid 5.

"Ehhh- This was rated 5 stars by people before it was released."

I was excited for this. It was promising. I knew the hype was through the roof and that pretty much no game like this (unless Star Citizen was thrown at us from a secret development room with every promise they've made) could ever break that, but I did hope for a little more than what No Man's Sky turned out to be. Unfortunately, until they give us DLC or just some fleshy updates, this is nothing more than a barebones launch pad for something that could be amazing. I wouldn't believe those 5 stars, either. Fanboys are dominating a lot of reviewing platforms and forums. Yes, I've followed this since the first trailer hit E3. Yes, I've played a lot of space sims. Yes, I have money in Star Citizen. Hello Games somehow mind tricked the world into believing that this game is something massive by saying things like “Quintillion” and “Procedural” and “Multiplayer” (https://www.youtube.com/…=AE0nuW-mQ8A just for those that are fanboy-ing about how it's not MP.).

"Triple A price, indie content"
2 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

A trillion planets all slightly different, populated by aliens of three possible races who never have more than one of the species at a place at any one time.

Feel seriously ripped off. What an overhyped piece of junk I ran out of non samey things to do in 5 hours flat.

"Update is a complete game changer"
5 stars"

NMS got off to a seriously rocky start. It was definitely not what people were expecting. I still enjoyed playing it and felt it was still in its early stages. I firmly believed that it would only get better once Hello Games released some. Then came the “Foundation” update. WOW! NMS is an awesome game and it will only envole into something amazing. Definitely worth the buy.

"Needs more content, but for an indie developer, well done"
3 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

i have been following the game for awhile, i didnt buy into the hype because it never lives up to it. i ideally would like to give the game 3.5 stars. the game is beautiful and fun when you start, but it is repetitive. there is no real direction but i like just flying to planets and exploring. i gave it a 3(.5) because i am a week into it and i am starting to feel that i want something more from it. i haven't really started making my full journey to the centre of the universe yet, so i dont know if things amp up or this is just it. buy it if you like exploring, trading and seeing a cool world. do not buy if you want a shooter, space battles and multiplayer.

Just remember, Hello Games are an INDIE developer and we should be applauding them for the game they have produced. i look forward to seeing what they do in the future.

"A great game now, ignore old launch reviews"
5 stars"

Well I think the best thing to describe it is what I have done. Don't be fooled by all the reviews dated August 2016 or there about, there have been two major updates since. I was today just thinking about the total journey I have been on since last November and thinking how would I ever get back to where I am now if I was starting again from a clean start. Six ships most ‘S’ class, 150 Million in bank, 40 slot freighter with 130 plant farm, base with one of every farmable plant as well as 200+ Spadonium, landing pad, racetrack. All vehicles, full suit with all the blueprints available (but not all installed to save space) ten storage units full, freighter full, all Milestones maxed out, all 10 Atlas stones all Polo missions done, ‘S’ class multitool, and best of all living in prime location in the Galactic HUB with hundreds of other players. OMG does life get any better lol......

"Awesome, BUT definitely not for everyone."

Before purchasing this game, answer a few questions. Don't you love MMO's – Do you thrive in a game that has you as the world saving hero- Do you expect a tutorial in a new genre of game for you as the player, to proper explain everything that is strange to you in that game-. Do you love inventories that are minimal, efficient, and easy to navigate-. Do you love a story driven game with different twists, plots and character complexity. If you answered YES to any of the above, THIS GAME IS NOT FOR YOU.NO offense intended. PROs- A randomly generated Galaxy sized sandbox, that allows you to explore and realise your dream of exploring space. Art that is as beautiful as the world's are deadly. The thrill of standing on an alien cliff and knowing that you are the only one that has seen this view. The ability to name a planet, it's flora and fauna, as you see fit, provided of course, you discovered it first. The trading aspect of the game and the space battles against pirates and so the list goes on. CON's – The worst tutorial I have ever experienced, explains absolutely NOTHING !If it wasn't for some good folk on YouTube, the first 4 hour's game time would have been a nightmare. Slippery space ship controls in space battles. Lack of lock on referring of enemy ships. An inventory that needs overhauling, NOW. Restrictive inventory slots available on both your suit and ship. Annoying sentry drones that patrol the individual planets. Space ship shield system that needs MANUAL RECHARGING, while in the heat of unpauseable battle. Ridiculous to say the least. The lack of M3 class planets, they are rare. (It's the type of planet this one is) Considering this is a populated galaxy, where are the city centres- Also the lack of being able to build a home on a planet, AT THE MOMENT, though the developers are adding that in, within the next few months. You would think from all my negative comments about this game, I HATE IT !. Quite the contrary, finally a game that gives the ps4 a reason to exist, though we play both types of consoles, the ps4 was lacklustre, till this showed up. One final good point, this is the only game that due to its procedurally generated setup, HAS NO LOADING SCREENS, ZONES OR WHATEVER. You see a trade station, you walk in, the door opens and you are inside. You leave it same thing. You blast off from a planet to travel into the void, once again no loading screens. It truly is a marvel of a game, as long as you, the player, realise off the bat, THIS IS A SOLITARY EXPERIENCE. It's you against the universe, and everything that is out to neither eat or kill you. Cannot recommend this game enough, AS LONG AS YOU DIDNT ANSWER YES, to any of the original questions. Go in with no PRECONCEIVED NOTIONS, and you WILL enjoy yourself. Have a nice day.

"Beautiful Game Worth the Money"
4 stars"

Stunning but the game isn't for everyone. Make sure you watch some gameplay and research about it before you buy. I love it but a lot of people are complaining there's nothing to do in this exploration game. (Lol) Just make sure you understand that this games objective is exploration. There is no end game win or something to hunt for. Don't get it if you want a winning experience.

"If you buy it, get a physical version."
2 stars"

It makes it easier to pass it on to someone if you realize it's empty, vapid, has few different archetypes of planets and what few mechanics are in the game would be better off out of it. The game would be better without “spend at least 1/2 an hour in order to get the materials to jump to the next system,” and the danger is always either impossible, or not threatening at all, if it's there at all. The combat has little to no flow.

Got ~12 hours out of it, that's the only good thing.

Not great, got boring and repetitive very quickly. Not as much planet variety/ships/game play etc as promised. Feel ripped off.

"One year after an Alpha release, we have lift off"
4 stars"

Hello games really faced the gauntlet after releasing an incomplete game that delivered on none of the promises made at E3 and in the hype up to the initial release date. Now one year down the line and a few days after update version 1.3, I urge you to set aside your preconceptions based on the last year of media slamming and unhappy gamers, or your own experience of the early game. Finally No Mans Sky gives us the goods. It is not even the same game as release date, it's now packed with things to do, graphically awesome, plays very well and (to me at least) really feels like something for Hello Games to be proud of. If you followed the Waking Titan/ Atlas Rises build up to this latest update involving online mystery and difficult problem solving, then you know there must be more up the developers sleeves; personally, I'm very excited to see what comes next from the minds of the guys we all thought were history after a crushing failure to impress on release. Good job Hello games, you could have faded out, but you bloody didn't.

"Do not buy this game!"
1 stars"

After playing for about 15 hours I realised it wasn't what the creator said it was alot of stuff missing, it has a high price tag for what it was, I read that sales have dropped dramatically also the gamers have dropped off like flies. It is one simple idea generated into a cold mess.

I couldn't get into this game as it seemed like a Star Wars game. Not surprisingly happy.

Very slow start to the game trying to figure out what you are ment to be doing. You just keep doing the same thing over and over again. Disappointed.

"Loving it so far, dont listen to the haters"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

A dozen or so hours in sharing controller time with my 8yr old and we're both loving it, mining, collecting, fixing, flying, trading .. Have tried shooting the scanners yet but not doubt that's on the horizon. The thing we both love the most is just soaking up the varied landscapes and exploring them. Took a star off as there's a fair bit of repetition interaction and structure wise, that might get more irritating over time but for now it's great value for money. 4/5 stars

""Indie" gaming marketing at it's worst."
1 stars"

The width of an ocean, but with the depth of a puddle. That is how I have heard this game being described. I would have to agree. Having watched Angry Joe Show on Youtube thorough review of this game I know yeap I dodged a bullet with this one.

"Not as good as expected"

Don't feel this lived up to the hype, the starting bonus was good and increased play earlier on. The graphics and landscape are great, there is just something missing from it being a five star title.

"Personally Love it - but make sure you check out a stream first."
4 stars"

I've got the PC version, I personally love the game and have had no frame rate or CTD on my modern gaming rig.

Game suits me and I really love it, and my wife is also enjoying the PS4 version, it's cathartic and at times stunningly beautiful. I've played about 40 hours and still really like it.

But I HIGHLY recommend checking out streams and video reviews first – this is a niche game that won't appeal to a lot of people.

"Not what you expect- IF you believed the hype"
5 stars"

Spot on what I thought it would be. Yeah it's pricey- but that's marketing for you!!! And it is repetitive, but there is something more to this game if you give it a chance. Definitely not for everyone… it's not a refined polished FPS, it's not an overly varied RPG… It's something else.

"Had promise, but ultimately disappointing."
2 stars"

As someone who bought this the day it released, it has come a long way since releasing with almost none of the promised content. It's unfortunate that with all the updates aimed at delivering what was promised, what it is now still feels buggy, and unfinished.

"Not reaching it's potential."
3 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

No Man's Sky is a technical marvel, it is easily the largest game ever made by quite a margin and a unique experience. However, unfortunately right now, the game is not worth playing extensively or for that matter buying; due to the monotonous game-play loop & the technical difficulties. The previews and developer's description made prior release do not accurately reflect the games state at this point, hopefully future updates and DLC can help No Man's Sky become the game that was promised

"A $30 dollar package at best"
2 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This game was billed, and is still being billed as an amazing concept. But the concept never became a reality. The advertising material being used to sell you this title is from the 2014 build of the game, no fault of Mighty Ape's, it's the screen shot's Hello Games have issued advertisers. Players have since learnt that this version of the game never existed, the version we are playing is a very watered down version. There are no dinosaurs, no giant creatures at all, no giant trees, no sand worms, no sand planets, no beaches, no snow, no large space battles. The best way to describe this title is Minecraft without the Crafting. If the main character only had a sword and a boat, and went around the map breaking trees and rocks constantly to refuel and repair the sword and boat. Reviews will talk about two story path's: The Atlas Path, and the journey to the centre of the universe. Without spoiling you, neither of these paths will reward you in any way. All the story comes by way of text, no dialogue. No cut scene. No answers. No end. The game does a good job of (occasionally) creating a pretty planet to look at, but more often than not the planet is a bare rock with the same 10 plants you've seen on all the other planets. In truth, its a playable screen saver. This would be best alongside games like Journey, or Unfinished Swan. It has no right to be sitting next to any AAA titles- Uncharted, Fallout 4, these types of games are far superior. Minecraft is also far superior to No Man's Sky. Buyer beware.
