LSD started out with a few successful (overplayed) singles that I affectionately refer to as “pop-trash”. While I am definitely not a fan of modern contemporary pop music, I have always loved Sia. Both Sia and Diplo always seen to make music that is simultaneously pop but also infused with beats and melodies that make them stand out above the crowd of squeaky pitch shifted vocals and computerized noise that dominates the mainstream radio stations. I don't like Labrinth as a solo artist but has inclusion here adds a really nice juxtaposition to Sia's vocals. The three harmonize together and the end result is a wonderful display of some seriously funky tunes. Each time one of their new singles was released I would listen, enjoy it, get sick of hearing it endlessly on the radio, then come back around to enjoying it again. One by one I fell in love with this bizarre mixes and insane sounds until the album was finally announced. The few new tracks essentially boil down to an intro (easily the worst/most annoying track to sit through) and a couple of slower tempo songs that are good in their own right. Honestly I'm glad this little collab turned into a full album effort. The result is something unique that I still enjoy. Most of the tracks were big singles on the radio so many will already be familiar with the majority of the album so I seriously recommend picking it up IF you enjoy these tunes. Certainly not for everyone and I wouldn't fault anyone unfamiliar with any of the artists to assume that this is just another pop-trash album. But I think it's something special.
