Description

For over ten years, Luke Healy invested all of his self-esteem into his career as a graphic novelist. Then, overnight, his career just vanished. Spiralling, and left without a purpose, he searches for identity in self-help books, replacement jobs, and human connection. Set against the backdrop of a changing global climate, Self-Esteem and The End of The World follows Luke across two decades of tragi-comic self-discovery - visiting cheesy British hotels, Hollywood movie sets, and abandoned Greek islands. As icecaps melt, and cities flood, Luke tries in vain to answer the question -who can you possibly be at the end of the world?

Author Biography:

Luke Healy was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, where he also received a BA in Journalism. He holds an MFA in cartooning from the centre for Cartooning Studies in Vermont, USA, and his two previous books, The Con Artists and Americana, were both named as Guardian Books of the Year.
