Description

Dealing first with basic nursing concepts, this book moves on to deal with specialism. It is organized in four main units - the first covers the principles of psychiatric nursing care including roleand functions, models of care and the therapeutic relationship and the context in which psychiatric care is practised in the UK. The second section looks at where psychiatric care is provided: at home, in day centres, in hospital settings. With the move towards care in the community, emphasis is given to the continuity of care and this unit reflects the needs of UK practitioners. The third section applies these principles in practice and considers the nursing interventions for a range of mental health care needs of individuals due to a wide range of conditions. The fourth section considers the main treatment interventions offered in the UK with the final section looking at the future of mental health care in the UK.
