The AH-64 is an attack helicopter developed in the United States since the 1970s as the successor to the AH-1 Cobra.
The AH-64D, nicknamed the Apache Longbow, is an improved version of the AH-64A with a new engine and improved electronic equipment.
Deliveries began in 2006 as the successor to the AH-1S in the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, but the decision was made to reduce the number of AH-64D Block IIs procured due to the end of their production in the United States, and procurement ended with 13 units.
