I was pleasently suprised to see Umbrella Entertainment release this 1980's gem after Shout Factories release was Region A locked as all of their releases are…this release is Region B. The Picture quality is as good as you are ever going to get it for an H.D Upscale,there is a small amount of fine grain throughout the movie but as expected being a 80's picture. The Sound quality is however very very good with good seperation between front centre and rear speakers…overall this is a 1980s gem with most of the gory blood splattered effects being all practical with added bonus of some great stop motion photography..there is an added extra of an interview with director Chuck Russell who dives into the making of the movie and how exactly they created the Blob itself..however the only other extra is the films theatrical trailer which unfortunately on watching you soon discover that the picture is way out of sinc with the sound..how they got this one wrong Im not sure but if your a fan of top notch 1980s horror then you cant go wrong with “The Blob” added to your bluray movies.
