It's been five years since I closed the book on a monumental chapter of my life – an epochal tale of swords and sorcery and dragons. So many dragons! When the Skyrim Special Edition was announced, it was a no-brainer that I should fall heavily again. Some may call it double-dipping, however despite all of the expansion packs arriving to form one expanded experience, it doesn't feel like starting over. It feels like starting anew. Because Skyrim Special Edition looks and plays as good as a legacy title should. But the legacy belongs to Me… Because, once again, I'm tailoring the adventures to fit within my purview of this fantasy world. I may be the Dragonborn, but I'll decide when to speak with the Greybeards or when to take counsel with a companion or when to decide the actionable fate of a city dweller. Because Skyrim Special Edition makes YOU – the player – feel special by being invested in the outcome, no matter how minute or far-reaching. And of course the experience itself is bolstered by the size and scope of your character development – a constellation of skills that is out of this world! I'm glad I've returned home to Skyrim – it feels like coming home but at the same time it feels more warm and welcoming than I ever expected thanks to the remastering effort. As for calling it a day, well that's one point on the horizon that I can't foresee. Bethesda is love, Bethesda is life!
