Iconic Kiwi Rock Band Tadpole Reunites for Winter Shows with Devilskin

AUCKLAND, New Zealand – March 21, 2024 – The anticipation among fans has finally been answered: Tadpole, the triple platinum-selling Kiwi rock sensation, is making a return to the stage. After captivating audiences with numerous hit singles in the early 2000s and leaving an indelible mark on the New Zealand rock music scene, Tadpole played their final show in 2006. Now, in 2024, the band is back with a highly anticipated tour alongside Devilskin this winter to celebrate the 21st anniversary and vinyl release of The Medusa album.

Tadpole's impact on the music landscape is undeniable. From their chart-topping debut album, The Buddhafinger, which in 2000 reached an impressive #2 and spent 46 weeks in the album charts, to the recent resurgence of their vinyl reissue of the same album, reclaiming the #1 spot on the NZ album charts last year (2023), Tadpole's legacy continues to resonate with fans.

The band's sophomore album, The Medusa also made waves, securing a spot at #10 on the album charts in 2002. Additionally, “The Tadpole Collection” anthology box set, released in 2022, further solidified Tadpole's status as one of New Zealand's most beloved rock bands, reaching #11 on the album charts.

Hits like “For Me,” “Backdoor,” “Alright,” and "Nothing New'' dominated the singles charts, showcasing Tadpole's versatility and enduring appeal. Fans on social media began speculating in recent years about the possibility of a reunion tour, a dream that is now being realised in 2024.

While original vocalist Renee Brennan was not interested in reforming for a tour, her endorsement of newcomer Emma Dilemma as her successor after hearing her sing speaks volumes about Emma's talent. With Renee's blessing, Emma will take over vocal duties for the tour, promising an electrifying performance that stays true to Tadpole's iconic sound.

Emma explains, “I couldn't believe it when I got the call; being asked to join a rock band that I admired since they played live at my high school is something I didn't ever consider would even be in the cards for me. I'm beyond honoured to take Renee's reins and breathe life back into these classic kiwi rock tunes out on the road this winter!”

“I’m really excited for people to experience Tadpole songs live and loud once again!” says guitarist Chris Yong. “With Emma on board, the Tadpole spirit is strong and this tour is something you won’t want to miss.”

Joining vocalist Emma Dilemma and Chris Yong is Dino Lawton on drums, Shannon Brown on bass, and DJ Kritikl on the turntables. Together, they are poised to deliver a series of unforgettable shows that will reignite the passion and energy of Tadpole's heyday.
