Years have passed since we last saw Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), and the old enemies must now form a tenuous alliance in order to carry out a dangerous mission.
Maggie and Negan travel to a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, long ago cut off from the mainland. There they discover a crumbling city, filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York their own – a world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror. But as the pair moves deeper into the gritty depths of the walker-infested city, it becomes apparent that the traumas of their tumultuous past may prove just as great a threat as the dangers of the present.
Critics Reviews:
- “This spin-off breathes a welcome sense of peril back into the universe. But with so many more spin-offs to come, the real trick will be if the producers can avoid choking the franchise to death.” – Karl Quinn (The Age (Australia)
- “Dead City arguably delivers the most satisfying spinoff yet by combining the signature characters, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan. Throwing the pair into a zombie-ravaged Big Apple merely adds to the (OK, kind of depressing) fun.” – Brian Lowry (CNN.com)
- “The Walking Dead: Dead City is a well-told, self-contained story that retains many of its predecessor’s best qualities while deepening two of its most beloved characters.” – Jessica Liese (Variety)
