“A beautiful, hand-drawn feature-length animated film that the story is about a shy, artistically-driven young girl named Anna who was sent to a rural, coastal town for health reasons, when 1 night she discovered a mysterious young, blond-haired girl named Marnie where both shall form a inseparable friendship for life”.
The film tackles various themes like emotion, mystery, discovery, generosity, and friendship that both girls must endure & tackle along their life.
Unlike any other Studio Ghibli films, this is the first Ghibli film that isn't involved or directed by the founder (Hayao Miyazaki) due to his retirement from feature-length films back in 2013. To take over future Studio Ghibli film projects, the director's role was promoted to none other than Hiromasa Yonebayashi, who directed “The Secret World Of Arriety” (2010).
This is got to be my favourite Studio Ghibli film since Spirited Away (2001).
Highly recommended for all Studio Ghibli/Japanese Anime fans!
